Description
Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is seeking a Transition to Work and Employment Specialist to fill an anticipated research and assessment project in education (primary and secondary), transition to employment, TVET and workforce development in Belize. The Transition to Work and Employment Specialist will lead an assessment of the level of education, specific technical skills, and employability and core work skills required for effective performance in occupations in high growth potential industries in Belize.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews with relevant public and private sector organizations and companies representing the primary employers and interest groups in each of the identified high growth potential industries to identify priority occupations to meet current and anticipated labor market needs.
- Design and administer surveys to managerial and supervisory staff in organizations and companies to identify the level of education, specific technical skills, and core work skills required for the identified priority occupations.
- Assess the current gaps in provision of programs to prepare students for occupations in high growth potential industries.
- Review the program offerings (including content, objectives, and learning outcomes of technical and programs) available at secondary, TVET, and tertiary institutions.
- Interview academic administrators and teachers at secondary schools, TVETs, and tertiary institutions regarding resources and capacity building that would be required to prepare students for the identified priority occupations.
- Make recommendations for meeting the current and anticipated skills needs of high growth potential industries.
Qualifications:
- At least a master’s degree in Education, Vocational Education and Training or Human Resource Development or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in the employment related services, private sector engagement, and assisting TVET graduates transition to employment.
- Experience in conducting skills needs assessments of graduates with the intent to help them find jobs and successfully transition to employment.
- Experience working in the Caribbean or Central America preferred.
