Belmopan Building Permit Requirements

  1. Two complete sets of working drawings for house plans
  2. Complete building permit form provided
  3. All taxes must be paid in full before drawings can be approved.
  4. Pay building permit fee, which is based on square footage of building.
  5. Pay deposit for removal of construction debris, which is a minimum of $100.00 per load.
  6. Deposit is refundable after two weeks of completion of house and inspection is done by the Engineering Section.
  7. Deposit is not refundable, if after two weeks construction debris is still on the street side the Council keeps the deposit and removes the debris.
  8. Drawings are sent to the City Engineer for approval, and are returned back by the following day, if it is approved.
  9. Drawings that have been approved, one set is given back to the house owner and the other kept on file in the Engineering Section.
  10. A complete set of approved drawings must always be on site for inspection by the Engineering Section.
  11. Permission must be given by the Engineering Section for construction material to be stored on streets.
  12. Waste Disposal Plan should include details of septic tank, soak away etc.

Planning Application Fees:

  • Residential: Up to 800 sq. ft. $50.00 plus $10.00 for every additional 100 sq. ft or part thereof.
  • Commercial/Industrial: Up to 500 sq. ft. $100.00 plus $20.00 for every additional 500 sq. ft. or part thereof.
